I was recently at a networking event and I was having a chat with someone who had asked me what I did. As I was mid stream explaining to him about realtimeseating he suddenly said to me “I wish I could work for myself”. Now this is not the first time someone has said this to me, as realtimeseating is not my first business, but it is the first time that I have replied “so why don’t you?” The answer to this question turned out to be the reason we developed the realtimeseating home based franchise.
During our discussion he confessed to me that the main reason he could not work for himself was, “I just can’t afford to take that risk because of the family and the house”. This is the reality of it – as I had started out on my own business as a teen to me the risk was negligible – if it did not work we would try something else (probably wouldn’t be able to afford going out clubbing but that was it).
It suddenly occurred to me that if I was currently employed and my life was as is (young family & home with a mortgage) would I take a risk to go work for myself? Tough one – even tougher if you had never done it before (I would say yes no problem but I did have to think about it and I have run my own business before successfully and on occasions unsuccessfully).
This chance encounter at the networking event played on my mind and as I thought about it a clear message became apparent. It was crystal clear; if you have this weight of responsibility on your shoulders you need a sure thing. Yes it is easy to say but we all know there is no such thing as a sure thing (particularly in business) so the alternative is to stay where you are and have "something on the side". Build that "something on the side –part time" to a level that it provides you with a good income and then if you so choose you take the plunge and start “working for yourself – full time”.
So here is an opportunity to build an income stream, your “thing on the side”. Depending on how much you put into it will deliver a good income but more importantly this income you will continue to earn for life! Take the first step towards working for yourself and visit realtimeseating.com/rts_aboutus and download our Franchise Proposal.

This year’s Action Against Hunger FIGHT HUNGER EAT OUT CAMPAIGN brings a host of fundraising events and is supported by top chefs including Raymond Blanc, Antonio Carluccio, Giorgio Locatelli and Rick Stein.
The campaign, now in its 12th year and takes place between 1st September and 31st October.
The focus behind FIGHT HUNGER EAT OUT is to increase awareness of child hunger and raise funds to help malnourished children and their families worldwide. Establishments participating in the campaign raise money by asking their customers to donate a small amount of money with their bill or to purchase a certain dish from which a donation is made. For the first time additional funds will be raised for Action Against Hunger when customers buy Taittinger Champagne in participating outlets.
Champagne Taittinger has supported a number of fundraising events with Action Against Hunger over the years, and this year has increased this by becoming a corporate supporter. As part of the charity’s FIGHT HUNGER EAT OUT campaign 2010, Champagne Taittinger has pledged to donate 50p for every glass and £2 for every bottle of its Champagne sold in participating restaurants, bars or hotels.
Over 500 restaurants are getting involved with the campaign, including: The River Café, Locanda Locatelli, Theo Randall, Zuma, The Cinnamon Club, Benares, Launceston Place, St John, Le Gavroche, Hawksmoor, Coq d’Argent, Roka, The Greenhouse, Konstam, The Modern Pantry, Café Spice Namaste and Le Manoir aux Quat’Saisons to nage a few.
To date, the combined efforts of food lovers across the United Kingdom have raised £1.5 million towards Action Against Hunger’s work in over 40 countries worldwide.
